Asian & Pacific American Heritage Month

Asian and Pacific American Heritage Month is an annual celebration in the United States that honors the rich histories, cultures, contributions, and resilience of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders.

While Asian and Pacific American Heritage Month is nationally observed in May, many institutions — like Baylor University — choose to hold their campus celebrations earlier, typically in April.  This scheduling allows more students to participate in the events, since a larger portion of the student body is on campus and able to join in the festivities before the academic year winds down.

This intentional choice reflects a desire to maximize community engagement, celebrate multicultural identities while students are present, and ensure that programs designed to educate and bring people together are accessible to a broader audience. Hosting events in April also provides space for collaboration among student organizations, faculty, and staff, which enriches the overall experience and impact of the month’s programming.
